THE RELATION OF OPTICAL TO MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF METALS
DOI: 10.17804/2410-9908.2025.6.090-099 The paper discusses the quantum mechanical mechanism underlying the relation of optical to mechanical characteristics of solids. The results of the study are based on a new analytical relationship between optics and electrodynamics. A quantum mechanical basis for the correlation between the ratio of two optical constants and percentage elongation (plasticity) of metals has been found.
