DISTRIBUTION OF MAGNETIC BARKHAUSEN NOISE PARAMETERS, MICROMECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS, AND RESIDUAL STRESSES IN THE WELDED JOINT OF A BIMETALLIC PIPE

DOI: 10.17804/2410-9908.2025.6.100-113

The development of nondestructive testing methods for welds of structural materials is an urgent and demanding problem for increasing productivity and ensuring safety during operation of parts and structural elements. The paper contains the results of experimental studies on the distribution of magnetic Barkhausen noise parameters, micromechanical characteristics, and the level of residual stresses along the cross-section of a welded joint obtained by rotary friction welding of a bimetallic pipe. Patterns of changes in certain parameters depending on the width of the welded joint and the features of its macrostructure have been established.

Acknowledgment: The work was performed under the state assignment for the IES UB RAS, No. 12407500003-6. The equipment of the Plastometriya shared research facilities, IES UB RAS, was used for the research.

Keywords: bimetallic pipe, rotary friction welding, magnetic Barkhausen noise parameters, residual stresses, micromechanical characteristics
