REFRACTIVE INDEX OF LIGHT FROM A CONDENSED MATTER. NEW VERSION

DOI: 10.17804/2410-9908.2024.6.163-169

The study analytically relates macroscopic electrodynamic characteristics to the optical constants of a condensed isotropic matter. The language of hypercomplex algebra is used. The resulting solution is extended to the anisotropic case.

Acknowledgment: The research was performed under the state assignment from Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, theme Spin, No 122021000036-3, and theme Function, No 122021000035-6. We express special gratitude to Vasily Vladimirovich Evstigneev for his assistance in working on the article.

Keywords: optical constants, electrodynamic characteristics, condensed matter, quaternions, angular momentum: spin and orbital
